What is Pilates?

Pilates instruction begins with building a strong “core” or as Pilates referred to it “powerhouse” using all of the muscles that surrounding the spine including the abdominal muscles, low back and buttocks. This whole body exercise program buil
ds long, lean muscles by adding flexibility moves to each of the strengthening exercises. For this reason, Pilates has attracted many dancers, but with the ease of movement anyone with or without a dance or athletic background can benefit from Pilates. Pilates can be done as your sole source of exercise or as a cross training effort to increase your strength and stamina. Pilates provides great exercise benefits , strengthening and lengthening your muscles as well as working to correct your posture.
In Pilates, exercises are done in a safe but challenging manner usually with less than 10 repetitions of each exercise. This allows you to concentrate fully on the movement and keeps the mind active by moving through a series of movements relatively quick. In the Pilates programming we always start with the basics and progress as you are ready.
Pilates is a great way to prevent injury, if done correctly. If done in an unsafe
manner or incorrectly, you may injure yourself, which is why it is important to take instruction from someone who is well trained and to communicate with them about how your body is feeling.
What to expect? The most important concept is to remember that you are in charge of your own body. You will be empowered to make decisions that will help to heal and correct you bodies natural movement patterns.
Doing Pilates may uncover weaknesses in your body. This may require extra strengthening to overcome your weakness. There are many exercises ind the Pilates system and no 2 bodies are alike, we will use a variety equipment and body positions to assure you get a great workout that benefits your body.

New Member Private Package $200
Our introductory package which provides instruction on all fundamental pilates movements. This package is a prerequisite to smoothly tranisitioning to one of our group classes. The class ensures your comfort level with pilates movements, equipment, and instructional methods, all within a private class setting. The package consists of four 60-minute one-on-one sessions. After completing the new member package, students may join our on-going intermediate group classes, Duets or continue with private instruction.
Privates (1-on-1) $95 per session
A private is a one on one session with an instructor. These sessions are the perfect way to learn Pilates or to progress your personal practice. Each body has many different needs based on goals, injuries, strengths and weaknesses. A private session is tailored to your specific needs using a combination of the mat exercises as well as using the apparatus ( reformers and tower). Privates are scheduled by appointment only.
Semi-Privates (Duets) $120 per session for two students:
A semi-private is 2 clients to one instructor. This can be a great way to add a component of accountability to your work-out. You and your training partner come together and the session is designed to assist the two of you with your individual needs. Semi-Privates are schedule by appointment only.
Group Equipment Classes $30 per session (monthly commitment)
All group classes are designed to meet the needs of the intermediate student. You must have completed a series of privates to move into a group class. All arrangements are made by the instructor. The schedule is posted and you find a time that works well with your schedule. Make-ups are allowed if the client notifies the instructor 24 hours in advance that they will not be attending class.
